I once had a friend who saw I was sad, when no one else cared to look. He noticed when I stopped smiling though I wouldn’t dare tell him why. Little did I know this friend would be there for me at a time when I stopped trusting most others just a little while later.
When I was alone and abused, he brought me to the One who cured all. And when a wolf came and slaughtered my soul, I once again wouldn’t dare tell him why.
And just recently, this friend died.
To say this grief is complicated is an understatement. Because when I did dare tell him why, I found my friend also slaughtered by the wolf. But he could not yet see it.
5 years ago, I met my friend for one last talk. I left that day not knowing what to think. But 5 minutes on that bench was a treasure I couldn’t yet see.
Rest in Peace Dear Friend.
